A lot of meetings

Rebecca Allen

We met Lorenza Garcia, President of the Navajo-France Association, with whom we discussed about our training period at Dine College. She introduced us to the staff of the College.

We visited the Campus, notably the library, in which we will have a room to work in and teach courses for the project. For the moment, six people want to participate to this project.

Tuesday, August 23rd

First day of class

Today, we taught our first hours of courses; from noon to 2pm. Students have the choice between two courses (Web Design and Web Development). From 5.30pm to 7.30pm, they study management project.

That first day of class was very positive. Students seemed to be motivated by the courses and the creation of the Website. More over, we sensed a real enthusiasm concerning the exchange of our culture, Navajo/France.

Wednesday, August 24th

Chelly Canyon

Second day of class: a new student took part in Web Design course, by phone. In the afternoon, we also made interviews with two Navajo students, who have accepted to answer our questions.

In the evening, James, Manager Of Network Administration, took us for a visit to the Canyon de Chelly. We saw some beautiful scenery. We had a good evening.

Thursday, August 25th

Lorenza's departure

Today, many students came to register. That's why our students (who are members of staff), couldn't come to class.

However, we could made an adjustment with Lorenza, concerning the differents aspects of the project. Finally, we took the opportunity to update and finalized our diary.

Friday, August 26th

Road to Las Vegas

Today, like yesterday, students registered. So our students from the staff couldn't come to the class.

2pm: We left Tsaile to go to Las Vegas with our Navajo friend, Christopher Johnson. It was a long trip: 8 hours. At our arrival, Denisa, our Navajo friend who study at Las Vegas, joined us. The temperature was between 100 and 110 degres! In the evening, we began to visit the city, because it is in the night that Vegas must be visited.

Saturday, August 27th

Viva Las Vegas: part one

After the night visit, we came back to Denisa's home at 6am, to have a rest.

In the afternoon, we made shopping with Denisa and Christopher in the outlets of the city. Then, we went back to Las Vegas downtown, until 4pm.

Sunday, August 28th

Viva Las Vegas: part two

After a long deep sleep, we had lunch: a good hamburger and french fries!

At 5pm, we went back to Tsaile with Christopher.
