Since the Navajo territory is located in the deserts of Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah, the Navajo Nation and its supporter, Navajo France Association, became members of the World Desert Foundation after their cultural participation in the second festival of the Meeting of Deserts People of the World, in Dubai, United Arab of Emirates in April 2005. |

|
Through the international elaboration of a Charter, approved by Unesco, one of the exchange's role is to recognize and support actions which concern protection of culture and environment, exclusively for World Deserts People. Upon membership of the foundation, the preservation of cultural traditions and values of the Navajo Nation was included. |

Therefore, to sustain the Diné, it is relevant to protect and maintain the Diné culture through direct exposure and interaction with the world. Through the discovery by the world, the traditions, values, and environments associated with the Diné Nation will be exalted and preserved. This exposure and interaction will be pursued in a respectful and compatible measure. |

All around the world, the Native Americans became an old legend. The words, "Indian", "American Indian", "Native American", are synonymic of disappearance, suffering, famine, and disparage. Not only was a legend left, but filmmakers for decades have stereotyped Native Americans, resulting in disrespect, ignorance, and arrogance. Through these attempts of exposure of Native Americans, the world has become convinced by these illusions and misinterpretations, therefore granting false perceptions. |

|
The world needs to experience and support this cultural wealth of the Diné People. One of the missions of the Navajo France Association is to have the world discover the humanity, life, wealth, development, progress, and solidarity of the Diné People. |

Born in France, Navajo France Association (A.N.F.) is a non-governmental, cultural, and artistic independent association and its priority mission is to introduce and make the Navajo Culture familiar to the large public. The A.N.F. is notably supported by members and friends from different countries who have very prestigious personalities of culture, media, and politics. |
|
|
During the next two months, A.N.F. will create various programs to
support and secure the development of the Preservation of the Diné Universe
Through Artistic Journey on the Diné Reservation. Listed are the proposed
programs:

In agreement with the Diné People, this objective of the project is to:
|
|
By interaction of the large public and the Diné People, three areas will be
exchanged to promote understanding and acceptance:
1) A space of orientation, coordination, and of reflection through the creation of a website
between students from the Diné Nation and France,
2) A space of observation, evaluation, fact, and intention through implementation
of the Preservation of Diné Universe through tourism,
3) A space of meeting of dialogue and exchange for the enrichment of the tourism program.
The proposed launch of the preservation project will commence with the creation of the website which will be developed over a period of the next four weeks. Following the creation of the website, the meetings and contacts of the Preservation of Diné Universe through tourism will be evaluated, established, and accomplished, via internet in the next three months. The first initiatory festive period for the tour journey will launch in the spring of 2006.
